(my grandfather) was born about 1830 and lived a large part of his life at Bolivar, Hardeman County, Tennessee, he later moved to
Keller, Tarrant County Texas and died there about 1927 at age about 95. I was
told by Elizabeth Nuckolls my half aunt that our great
grandfather was Garland Nuckolls who moved from Louisa County Va. to Missouri
many years ago. William G. Nuckolls was married three times, one time to a Miss
Polk (supposed to be of the President Jas K. Polk family) and some of the Polk negro slaves were living on our farm when I was a small boy
and their families remained with us until their death. Of this marriage there
were two children, Charles Edwin Nuckolls (my father) and Nonnie,
who married William Newsom and moved to Texas many years ago. We were in
contact with William Newsom of this family about 30 years ago and he was
Auditor for a railroad in Oklahoma. I believe it was the K.O.&C Railroad at
Muscogee, Okla. Of the second
marriage, there were 4 children, Noah, Louis, Elizabeth and Priscilla (Mrs.
George T. Ingram) who I believe still lives in Bolivar Tennessee and is very
old, the other three did not marry.
